DeadlandZ Project Zomboid — Streaming Tests, Highlights & What Comes Next

The DeadlandZ Project Zomboid server has become a bit of a testing ground for BSB Network content — and that's exactly the plan.

Over the past few weeks nights on Twitch (Box's account), we've been capturing a mixture of gameplay, unexpected moments, exploits, encounters and general chaos from our DeadlandZ PZ server. Rather than treating every stream as a finished production, we're currently using the server and the footage coming from it to experiment with different ways of turning live gameplay into content.

Testing What Works

At the moment, we're trying out different formats and seeing what actually works.

That means experimenting with things like:

• Short-form gameplay clips

• Quick, self-contained stories

• Multi-part video series

• Funny or unexpected moments

• Gameplay exploits and discoveries

• More heavily edited clips

• Content taken directly from live streams

• Short videos designed with platforms such as TikTok in mind
  

Not everything will work — and that's part of the point.

The aim is to figure out what makes a good BSB video, what keeps people watching and, importantly, what can be produced consistently from our regular community gameplay.

Some videos may be rougher around the edges while we're experimenting, but expect the quality, style and format to evolve as we learn what works best.

The Latest: Bandit Ambush Series

The most recent experiment has been a four-part series of Bandit Ambush videos, taken from recent gameplay sessions on DeadlandZ.

These are a good example of the kind of content we're looking at producing more regularly — taking an interesting encounter from a stream and turning it into a short, focused piece of content rather than expecting viewers to sit through an entire VOD.

Alongside the Bandit Ambush series, there's also currently a collection of short clips based around some recent in-game exploits and discoveries.

The idea isn't necessarily to make every clip into a major production. Sometimes a great moment only needs a few minutes — or even a few seconds — to tell the story.

More Member Streams Wanted!

This isn't intended to be just my content (Box). BSB Network is a community, and we'd like to start showcasing more of what our members are doing across the network.

If you're streaming games, creating interesting gameplay moments or producing content that you think would work for BSB videos, send us your stream/profile links directly through your BSB Network website profile. That gives us somewhere to find your content and potentially use it for future BSB videos, compilations, shorts or other community features.

You don't need to have professionally edited footage either. Sometimes the best material is simply something that happened during a normal session. If something interesting happens on your stream, let us know where to find it.

A Project Zomboid Streaming Event Is Coming

There's also more DeadlandZ content in the works. I'm planning a dedicated Project Zomboid streaming event in the near future, with the intention of using the session to create a number of smaller TikTok-sized videos and mini-series. Rather than relying on one long piece of content, the idea will be to break the event down into multiple smaller stories, moments and episodes that can stand on their own. More details on that event will be announced soon!

If there's a particular format you'd like to see BSB experiment with, a game you think would make good content, a type of video you'd like us to produce, or even an idea for a DeadlandZ series, let us know.

We're still figuring out exactly what the BSB content side of things should look like, so member feedback is genuinely useful at this stage. The DeadlandZ server is giving us a great place to experiment, and the intention is to take what we learn there and eventually apply it across other games and BSB community content. For now, expect experiments, expect some trial and error — and expect plenty more Project Zomboid.
